I was hoping to get some more designers' opinions on this, as I know a few friends who really love having an iPad to supplement their work, but I wonder if it's time to upgrade my laptop, knowing the M1 chip will soon be the norm (and I would like to continue using Apple, I'm just really comfortable with it). As we predicted, Apple's new MacBook Pro models unveiled today feature a redesigned keyboard with an all-black design, a row of full-size function keys, and a Touch ID ring that provides a more. However, I'm wondering if I should invest (a little more of) my money in the new M1 Macbook instead, since a laptop is definitely necessary. I was thinking about buying myself an iPad to supplement my design work, as I want to get into illustration more and there is way too much lag using my Wacom tablet. But it's still definitely functional, and I know I need to get some kind of external hard drive if I want to keep using it. Now that I use it for graphic design and a brief stint in 3D it now struggles to keep up sometimes, especially on the rare occasion I use 3D software, and has slowed down a bit in general. I got the most basic 2015 Macbook Pro before college thinking I wouldn't use it for much (Former pre-med student lol).
